With the ever rising cost of heating, and concerns about climate-change and the environment, it is re-assuring to know that Durashield replacement windows are among the most energy-efficient you can get.
Double glazing cuts heat lost through windows by half and can save £80 - £100 a year on your heating bills. Windows can account for up to 30% of the total heat lost from a house. Our high performance PVCu windows are one of the most effective ways to reduce heating costs, save energy and reduce CO2 emissions.
We install Pilkington Energikare low emissivity coated glass in all our replacement windows. Pilkington Energikare glass reflects heat back into the room whilst also letting in free heat from the sun known as passive solar gain. We build Pilkington Energikare glass into 28mm sealed units which provide much improved insulation compared with narrow gap double glazing.
We use Profile22 70mm sections for our windows and doors which use four chambers within the frame for improved thermal efficiency. Together with Pilkington Energikare low-e glass our windows achieve a typical U-value of 1.8Km/m2 and a Window Energy Rating of A-C.
All our windows exceed the latest rigorous energy-efficiency requirements of Document J of the Scottish Building Regulations.
